Greetings!
With the economy in it's current state money can be hard to come by. Many companies are foregoing raises or, worse, cutting salaries or positions.
I wanted to start a blog that will be used to share practical, real-world tips on how to save money. Some tips may involve little bits of money at a time, but as an old boss of mine used to say: if you look after the pennies, the dollars will take care of themselves.
Feel free to post suggestions of your own or relay how some of these ideas worked for you.
A couple of rules to abide by:
Legal, ethical methods only should be discussed and let's be kind to each other. Things are tough enough these days.

Hey Tony:
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea. Here was mine that we all hear about but it worked for me. I had built up my credit card debt to a significant amount when I was taking care of my grandparents and after they passed while I looked for a job.
Anyway, once I got a job I continued paying on the card but never seemed to get anywhere on it. So, I called several of the credit card companies who offered transfer deals.
I was able to find the best one for me which allowed me to consolidate my debt to one interest free card for one year for only 150.00 service fee. (This was fairly minor compared to the monthly charges I was racking up). I then took a second job and managed to pay off the card in that year. The fact is even if I had not been able to pay it off in that year, it would have been worth it to get ahead and look into another balance transfer.
The whole process was easy and there were no secret hidden pitfalls. And being debt free is a great way to be.
So, there is my recommendation!!
Katie
One area I've been seeing a lot of commercials for is services that claim to "clean up" your debt and credit history.
ReplyDeleteAs you mentioned, there are things that you can do as an individual to improve your situation.
Here is a nice MSN article on the topic: http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Savinganddebt/consumeractionguide/P136238.asp
